Question Is there a better tool to close programs than task manager?

Sometimes while browsing I end up down the rabbit hole and end up with 100+ open tabs. Of course Firefox locks up at some point. Closing firefox sometimes doesn't shut down the properly and I have to go into Task Manager to shut it down manually. But it often takes trying to end process multiple times before it actually shuts down.

Note to OP, rabbit holes can be hazardous to your computer as you have found. Be cautious about third party tools as they can also be rabbit holes. The only one I would consider isSystinternals.

Not quite the question you asked, but about : performance (remove the spaces) in Firefox gives you a per-tab view of what's going on and the ability to kill a tab/process.
