Is there a better arcade joystick for dreamcast then x-arcade for fighting games? I really want to play Marvel versus Capcom 2 at home but these Dreamcast regular controllers suck for fighting games. Any recommendations? X-arcade is my last alternative since it is way too expensive and I have heard it is not the best out there. Thanks.

i just started looking into making custom arcade fight sticks using real arcade parts. happcontrols.com or maybe happscontrols.com sells them. they're not too expensive either. about $12-$13 for the 'competition' stick. there are several different sticks. and the buttons are about $1.75 each. if you still have your x-arcade, you can just swap out the parts. or you can built from scratch. find a generic controller pad and solder wires from the stick and buttons to the different leads on the pcb. check out the hardware technical forum in shoryuken.com/forums. theres a huge thread with over 100 pages about custom home made sticks.

I'm not interested in replacing the x-arcade parts with better competitor parts.

And that's why he said "or you can built from scratch". Basically what he's saying is buy a cheap DC controller, buy some wood, buy the pushbuttons and joystick from Happs, and build your own controller.

Here's a site that links to a bunch of homemade sticks for arcade emulation on the computer. Look for some tutorials that gutted a PC controller and it shouldn't be hard to infer how to do the same for a Dreamcast controller. Build Your Own Arcade Controls FAQ

Which one is the Dreamcast version? What's the difference between the Super Nova and the Super arcade stick?

How does the Dreamcast one layout look? They don't have a pic of it.

I was looking around for the same thing a couple months ago. I ended up buying one of these Linkie and gutting an xbox controller. It would actually be pretty easy to build your own for about $60-$80 if you are halfway decent with woodworking. You can buy the kit redoctane has and get a PS2 -> DC adapter on ebay for cheap. Like rubix said, there are a few builders on the Shoryuken forums that do custom work for $80+. Unfortunately, building the joystick made me more game crazy and I ended up building an entire mame cab. Feel free to IM me if you have any questions.

I heard X-arcade sticks have slow response to some fighting games? Is this true?
