Dell Studio 1737 Notebook
http://www.buy.com/prod/dell-s...loc/101/210991237.html

SPECS:
2.0GHz Core2 Duo T6400
4096MB, 320GB
17" Truelife WXGA+ DVD-RW
6hr30min of battery life
Factory Refurbished
599.99$

Basically, this is a very important purchase for me because I am very poor. I already own a desktop but It is really nice to have a laptop to be able to carry all your school shit around without having to deal with using public computers, transferring data, etc.

The specs seem pretty good, I think it should last me a while.

My deepest worry about it is buying it factory refurbished. The warranty is 90 days, should I go for this? Anyone have any experience with DELL?

If you want to post a deal for us, fine. If you want to know what to buy, there is a Notebook category. You can ask all the questions you want there. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Normally asking questions in Hot Deals isn't allowed, but I'll answer yours before it gets locked.
If you want a good deal on a refurbished dell laptop buy one directly from them at www.dell.com/outlet/

IMO the Newegg deals for either Acers or Toshibas are better @ $399. All specs are in the ballpark; dual core Pentium or Athlon, 160 GB HD, 15", 2 - 3 GB ram. 17" is only nice if you want a desktop replacement as they are so much heavier.

It will be heavy! I have a 17" Dell (Inspiron 9400), and it's a beast. Not only is it heavy to carry around, but it's has also put a beating on my computer bag. If I was buying a laptop to carry around, I would stick with a 15.4" screen.

Nicely pimped (memory, wifi-n etc.) out but integrated graphics - A few days ago you could have ordered a brand new 17" Vostro 1720 with discrete graphics for only a few $ more with the 35% off coupon.

4500MHD isn't that bad. You can play some old games like HL2 on it.

The battery must be big to get a 6 1/2 hours of battery life on a 17" laptop. I am not sure if I can trust that spec.

I second the suggestion to get a unit directly from the Dell Outlet. If you sign up for coupons, you'll be notified when they have sales. Right now, they are just closing on the end of quarter blitz.

Another plus for the Outlet is that machines come with the same warranty as new. That means 1-year for home systems (3 years for small business)

I just checked and the Studio 1737 with 1-year warranty start at $609. They had a 15% off coupon a few weeks ago so that would be even cheaper. If you don't actually need a laptop right now, my recommendation would be to wait for the next coupon sale and get it at the Outlet.

That screen resolution is a bummer. Memory is cheap and easy enough to upgrade yourself. I'd buy directly from Dell outlet.

I'm looking at the Dell outlet but there is a lot of selection
http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBO...SC=Vostro%20a860&s=dfb
should be i looking at the vostros? which one do you think is the best for the price?

I kind of want it to run the source engine since my girlfriend likes to play L4D so that way we could play together.. I'm willing to spend more if its REALLY worth it. Willing to spend 600-700

Thanks by the way, you guys are so helpful
