Is there a 2T problem with Asrock 939?

Components in sig.

My system is rock-stable in games and benches at 11X250 with RAM at 250MHz 2.5/3/3/7 - but only with 2T RAM timing (Neither Vcore nor Vdimm mods used).

The difference in memory bandwidth is substantial - per Sandra, about 7000/7000 with 1T versus about 6000/6000 at 2T, at 11X250 with 250 MHz RAM speed.

Using 1T, even at 11X200, Memtest86 Test#8 errors out quickly (as does printing an XP test page, invoking Macromedia, or any event that calls for a significant RAM page-load).

I suppose it could be the 3700+ or the Patriot XBLK or combination of both - but I have my doubts. I can only stabilize at 1T with Memory Clock at 133MHz.

Anyone else with this problem with the Asrock 939?

I have the same problem, memtest errors in test 8. Yes, I'm pretty sure its a chipset/motherboard issue as there was a thread over on ocworkbench where lots of people were having the problem.

I'm hoping a bios update fixes it, but who knows? I don't think running 2t really hurts game performance much but its still kind of disappointing. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with this board so far.

Well I just got the board the other day with patriot ram and a 5900 atm and it isn't very stable. It reboots itself sometimes. perhaps because i have the ram at 1T. Gunna try it with 2T.

nobody I know has the board running stably at 1T even on stock settings... I run mine at 2-3-2-10-2T ram timings, besides there is a 3% difference between 1T and 2T

I have that issue. Today I did some serious troubleshooting, I got another set of memory, another CPU, basically swapped everything out. It all had the same problems. 1T is completely unstable, but yet stable enough to run games and benchies. Just dont paste anything into ms paint.

It's a board/bios issue and many are experiencing it. It sucks because all the hardware I have should run 2-2-2-5 1T...

I can RMA anything, but what other 939 AGP boards are out there? Oh well will live with 2T for now. To bad I cant run 1T at stock settings, if you could this is one of the fastest stock boards out there.

I also did the Vcore mod, didnt help anything. 1T issue remains.

maybe they will fix it with a new bios. dunkster what bios do you use to get to 250mhz fsb coz 1.2 only lets me run at 200.

I've run the 1.20, 1.30 and OCWB1 BIOSes, currently running 1.20 BIOS.

The other BIOSes didn't help this problem. BIOS 1.30 produced slightly lower memory bandwidth at equivalent settings.

This 2T problem is probably something that can be cured by a serious BIOS rework. I suggest we all contact Asrock with concise email requests to cure the the 2T Command Rate problem.

That thread discusses this issue somewhat. Its suggested that the newer venice cores memory controllers have trouble handling 1t, which sound like BS to me. However, I saw a post where some one said they swapped from a venice to an operton, nothing else changed and they could run 1t fine. So maybe that is the issue?

Hard to say, one person towards the end says they could run 1t if they ran the ram at like ~175mhz and that he got better performance that way. I dunno if that would be a good route for myself to go anyway...my value ram doesn't clock very high at all anyway.

Are you running your memory at the same speed as HTT and are you able to pass memtest's dreaded test #8 (with 1T option selected)?
