Is there a $100 video card that's better than 9700pro

I think my topic asks my question. I'm just wondering if there's anything out in the $100 price range that's faster than a 9700pro.

Well, you could get a used 9800p for around $100, that would be a bit faster. Other than that, I'd say no, unless you get a gf6600 for around $120-130 and OC it like mad.

Just to make sure, you're not replacing a current 9700pro with a $100 card, right? (you're looking to get a $100 card and don't have a 9700pro already, right?)

I currently have a 9700pro.

The bump up to the 9800 probably ain't what i'm looking for.

I just want something that will get me better framerate and detail on Battlefield 2.
(paired with a Athlon XP-M running at 2350mhz)

wait a few months until the 7xxx and R580 parts bump the prices of surrent gen parts down.

I don't think a 6800 Ultra will be $100 anytime soon :p

Most likely you will see a x700 around that $100 range soon though.

i doubt you'll find an agp x700 for 100 though, and its roughly equivalent to a 9700/9800

if you're REALLY lucky a 6200 with unlocked pipes and an extreme OC will beat it. other then that, the 6600 overclocked should beat it too.

Basically, if you already have a 9700p, and can only spend $100, keep the 9700 and wait for new cards in the $100 range to be released in the next month or two. Whatever's available now at that price wont give you much of an improvement.
