"Theo Fleury, the Rangers' leading scorer, has voluntarily entered an inpatient substance-abuse program and will be sidelined indefinitely. Details of the case were not revealed, but with less than six weeks left in the regular season it is unlikely that Fleury will be back to play this season."

So says ESPN, anyway. With the Rangers not making the playoffs, I don't see why he'd come back.

Theo is an alcoholic ? He wouldn't strike me as a drunk even if he slugged me with a pitcher full of Moslan Canadian :D

That's tragic.

Theo's a good guy, I'm sure he'll be back next year. With the rangers out of the playoffs(again!) there is no way he'll come back this year. NHL trade deadline coming up... there should be a lot of action.

A lot of specualtive reports say he has been addicted to a substance for a long time. It is highly unlikely it would be drugs as in cocaine because they test for that. So he probably is addicted to somekind of medication and it has gotten out of hand. Sounds familiar to Brett Favre of a couple a years ago. Its a shame because he back playing like the old Theo. Hopefully he'll get this behind and finish his career, which I believe will land him in the Hall of fame.
