Please lmk if you know. I really hate how it kills the sharing of files over the lan. Thanks

you need to go through the set up routine . i don't get any noticable hit with it. just uninstall it if you don't like.
good luck

To the best of my knowledge, neither NSW2003 nor NSW2003 Pro come w/ Norton Internet Security (NIS) or Norton Personal Firewall (NPF), the two Symantec consumer firewall products. If you have one of those products installed, you can right click on the GREEN/BLUE GLOBE in your System Tray and select "DISABLE." That may not disable the product permanently though.

Since the issue you're trying to resolve is file sharing across your LAN, that's a fairly easy issue to fix. I'll give you NIS2003 instructions as I don't have NPF2003. Hopefully the steps are similar in NPF2003 (if that's what you have installed):
[*]Double click on the GREEN/BLUE GLOBE in your System Tray
[*]Click on "Personal Firewall" (in the middle column)
[*]Click on the yellow "Configure" button (in the bottom of the right column)
[*]Click the "Home Networking" TAB
[*]Click the "Wizard..." button and run the Home Networking Wizard

If Norton Systemworks 2003 uses the Microsoft Installer system (.MSI) like NSW2002, you can just browse to the folder containing the program(s) you wish to install, right click on the respective .MSI installer file, then select "Install" from the context menu, provided that you have the Microsoft Installer utility installed on your system.

Works fer mee.

Yes - do the CUSTOM INSTALL and de-select the Firewall or anything else you don't want such as NAV. 🙂

I'm confused also, NSW doesn't include the firewall component...
