Is their a program that'll track what programs use my bandwidth?

I've checked for viruses and haven't found any, it's really strange. I am limited on campus, I know their is something using my bandwidth. I think it could be steam, but I am not sure...

is it just a hit to bandwidth or are there cpu cycles being used as well?

The CPU usage is around 5% with some small spikes, but I also noticed that when I turn on my computer. Bandwidth monitor sometimes spikes up to 56kb/s and stays at a constant ~5kb/s up and down. I don't believe this is normal.

I really don't want to reformat, but I am on campus and my bandwidth is limited. Anyone have any ideas?

Spyware of some sort i would imagine. Have you scanned your system?

Only thing I could think of is spyware as venomous stated. I doubt it be something like automatic updates and such. Since you are on campus I am assuming you are sharing a T3 connection? Maybe someone is uploading and being a resource hog. Btw, what bandwidth monitor are you using?

Scan for malwares. But you also need to check the processes under Task Manager as soon as you notice something is going on in the bandwidth. Scan with Spy Sweeper and also Spyware Doctor.

Try this tool from Sysinternals. It's called TCPView, it shows which executeables are using the internet.

could just do a netstat, but this is more intuitive and pretty interface.
If you do find something connected to alot of ports or programs that are running you dont know you can try killing it. You may wanna google the program.exe to make sure its not something u want to running.

If you cant see anything, you may be infected with a Trojan/Virus.
If you have this, use typical spyware/antivirus tools. Or use a rootkit detection tool.
