Is the Xbox 360 OS available?

Just like the title says, can I get the Xbox 360 OS anywhere? Obviously, without doing some sort of hack and memory dump, because I'm not interested in going that route right now.

I have been doing some searching, and I can't really find anything about getting the 360 OS to install on my own hardware. The plan would be to throw together a system that runs 360 OS in a virtual machine to combine with a few other applications to create a broad home arcade system/multimedia box.

Thoughts?
 
Not that I'm aware of. I believe that in order to do XBox development you need to own one and register with MS to get the XBox developer kit.
 
Interesting. I don't remember if I registered my Xbox. I will look into that, though I fear it may come at a hefty price tag.
