There's a $110 Sapphire X850XT and a $150 eVGA 7600GT KO both after MIR at newegg. Those are awesome deals!

Honestly, I found the original cooler pretty untolerable and quickly replaced it. It was the loudest component in my PC...and my PC is not quiet. But what really bothered me about it was that the sound was more noticable....higher pitched I'd guess.

And don't hold your breath on the rebate. I sent mine out 5 months ago.

mine is quiet - except on startup [it's AGP] . . . but that's NOT why i posted . . .

CALL the rebate company OR you WON'T get your rebate!!!!!!!

a week after i called i had my check :)
[it's 1-800, i believe]

they just have a problem sending money without your call. :p

what? it's enough for 1280x1024 unless he wants to load up will full AA/AF.

Meh I don't worry about it. For me, having both x850xt agp and 7600GT KO. I felt that the x850xt agp does best especially on oblivion even with the same ingame settings lol. If you're planning to play Open GL games alot...I would gear towards the 7600GT. Unless you play games of all kinds (both OGL and D3D). I would stick with the x850xt agp, it's a performer.

1. SM3 and HDR support.
2. lower temps and higher OCabilty
3. Lower power requirements.

not every one buys 70 buck PSU's that are needed for powerhogs like the x1900xt.
*goes to update sig with new PSU

Lol load of bull, my 7600GT KO loads up to 82 C with the stock cooler. I'm pretty happy when I replaced it with the Zalman VF900, it never hits over 60C anymore.

X850 XT ~~ 7600GT ~~ X1800 GTO... each card has its ups and downs... i would say the 7600GT is the best pick of the lot, though. ATI cards have an edge in shader intensive games (oblivion for example), but the 7600GT pwns anything openGL and stills gives more than adequate shader-intensive performance. i just traded for an X850 XT, and i'm running oblivion pretty well (certain parts do framelag, but overall the game is still quite playable) @ 12x10, almost all details up. if you don't fork over the extra $$ for the 7600, don't worry, the X850 is still a great card. from what benchmarking data i could gather, it's ~~6800GT speeds in openGL games.

Thoughts exactly...I'm pretty happy when I play oblivion on my x850xt rig. Then again, I'm really amazed with the 7600GT on OGL games...my jaw dropped when I can play RTCW:ET on 1600x1200 with almost perfect steady 60FPS  and so does with PREY on 1600x1200 with 2 AA/8AF

Cool. I MAY, MAY opt for the eVGA 7600GT, as the power draw and sound iw well, nice. But for now, the ATi card looks best for me.
