Is the X1800XL AIW the card for me?

I'm in the process of building a new system, and recently the X1800XL AIW caught my eye. I'm a gamer first and foremost, but I would definitely make use of the ability to watch and record tv shows on my computer. I have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer...

1. Can I watch (on my pc) all of the channels that I can watch at home on my tv?

2. Can I watch in HD (or do I need an HDTV)?

3. Will I be able to watch and record at the same time?

If there's a better alternative to the X1800XL AIW - like a good video card combined with a tv tuner that amounts to around the same price - then let me know. Thanks in advance.

1. You'll be able to watch anything you have on your TV unless you have digital cable or satellite, basically anything that requires a separate box to change channels.
2. You can't watch HDTV because the TV input is a regular coaxial input.
3. I don't know if you can watch and record at the same time..

I bought this card recently but don't have it yet. So, did you ever end up buying one? If you did how do you like it?

.

1. You can connect the STB to the AIW using composite or s-video for the digital channels and use its remote to change channels, or use the tuner for analog.
2.HDTV uses a coaxial input as well, however you need to add an ATSC tuner not available on the AIW.
3.You can watch and record the same channel at the same time, you can add a TVWonder card for multiview(PIP and watch a different show than you record)

The answers to your questions are above, of course.

But keep in mind that ATI's new x1900 series is set to launch towars the end of the month and I've heard that they will be releasing an x1900XT (XL?) All in Wonder card.

How long do you expect it will take for the X1900 All-In-Wonder to be released after the regular X1900's are? My Dell 2005FPW had problems on arrival so I'm RMA'ing it. I may just do the same thing with the AIW X1800XL I bought because I am now waiting for a good deal on the Dell from Dell's website instead of buying it on a random site like I did before. Hopefully there will be some coupons soon. My new system may be just a dream for another couple of weeks..
