Is the word "crap" a swear word?

I would not really consider crap a swear word. It's a somewhat unprofessional word that I would not use in front of a customer, or say in church, but if I did "slip" it's not really the end of the world. It's a replacement for "shit" so by saying crap you're avoiding to swear, not really actually swearing.

I think the last time someone told me "crap" was a swear was when I was in kindergarten. That's when "hell" was H-E-Double hockey sticks.

I have always considered it to be one, so yes it is.

no its not. But I still use it in the right situations. Using it on a forum is no problem.

My son tends to overuse it. He is 12 and its the only (kind of) swear word that he feels comfortable using.

I don't consider it a swear word but I don't think it should be in every sentence either.
