I was on another forum and I got a warning for swearing. The offensive word was "crap".

This was a forum about a cell phone. I was referring to another, non-cell phone related product as crap and they warned me for it.

Do you consider the word "crap" as a swear word?

Was it a religious cell phone forum? A childrens' cell phone forum? I think I've been saying the word crap since as long as I could speak.

I only choose yes because if it can be a sin-worthy offense, then hell yes lets make so :D

It's worse than "poop," but it's about as benign a curse word as you can use. Roughly on par with "damn."

no, but I have a loose definition... the only words that really strike me as really bad words are wise and beautiful woman, mother fucker, meekrob, and a couple racial/ethnic slurs.

Technically I'd say yes, as it has the same function in speech as other excrement/bodily faculty expletives. It even has exactly the same meaning as one of them. Why a word like crap often isn't considered a swear and shit is is beyond me, really.

It isn't a swear word, but it's certainly not polite. I don't use it in conversation with anyone but friends or family.

Nope. Neither is 'piss' which some of my childhood friends were yelled at for saying at times.

What a load of of solid human waste! I think you should invite them to go have sexual congress with themselves.

*Although why you felt the need to refer to Big Bob's Motherfucking Sweet Hot Sauce in a cell phone thread is beyond me.

And I'd yell at my kids if I caught them saying it too. It's not a bad thing to teach your kids to speak in a polite manner, so they are used to doing so when it's necessary.

Would you think twice about a 6 year old saying it?
I think so.

I'd say it's more on a par with darn than damn.
