Is the SyncMaster 753DF actually a flatscreen?

I got this under the impressions it was a flatscreen monitor.. but I've heard some people say that shadow masks aren't flat screens, simply flat glass???

SyncMaster 753DF SPECS

The screen goes to the corners perfectly, so I was pretty sure it's flat.. :(
It's still an amazing looking monitor, with a .20 pitch, but I'm just curious..

It's all relative, The tube isn't flat but they put some extra glass on to focus the image flat. It's all covered at their website, I have a 700ift which I believe was one of the first incarnations of that tube. But I think its specs are actually superior to 753.

yeah the 700ift has a higher pixel frequency. But I do love the glare protection on those things.

Both 753DF and 700IFT are PERFECT FLAT. It's developed by Samsung and they called it DynaFlat tubes, the first flat shadow mask to the market.

700IFT being superior to 753DF in specs because they're aimed at different market segments, the price reflected that.

I use a 753DF at work. I can tell you it's a very nice monitor...does 1280x1024 very nicely for a 17".
It looks flat to me...perfectly flat? I don't know...but seems pretty damn flat.

Samsung 753DF and 700IFT do NOT have flat tubes. These monitors use REGULAR curved shadow masks CRTs with special reflective glass that projects the image as flat. Although the image might appear perfect flat, this is NOT the case. Before you buy these monitors try looking at the image from a 45 degree angle and you'll notice half of the image cannot be seen because it is curved in the OTHER direction.

The only Flat CRTs on the market are Trinitron FD, DiamondTron NF and LG's Slot Mask. The Slot Mask does not have the two visible lines because it is not an aperture grille, but the CRT is 100% PURE FLAT.

I have this monitor
I've compared it to several others, and in this price range, it kicks serious booty!
I dont care if its perfectly flat or if its microscopically uneven. It looks flat to me. The sharpness and colors are awesome. On par with higher end Viewsonics. I compared em side by side on the same video card (I worked at best buy), not through a splitter box.
The only downside is that its a really heavy monitor.
Basically, I LOVE THIS MONITOR!
