Is the stock 1600+ XP fan okay for an Athlon 2700+ XP?

I'm thnking of buying an OEM version of the Athlon 2700+ XP. I have a spare fan from my retail 1600+ XP. Is this okay to use with the newer 2700+? The 1600+ was a Palomino which runs hotter than the newer Thoroughbred or Thorton so I'm wondering if it is good enough to use. I have no intention of overclocking.

I'd give it a try and see what kind of temps you get under full load. As long as they are around 50-55C (or less), you should be just fine.

If memory serves me correctly the retail fan on a 1600+ was all aluminum. The 2700+ needs a copper contact. The diffrence between 1400mhz and 2166mhz is pretty good, plus the 2700+ has a smaller contact patch (core) which requires even better cooling. I would get a cheat speeze (approx 10-11 bucks) with a copper center they work pretty good.
