Every week, comcast has a different premium cable channel on preview on Ch 77. I am a basic cable subscriber so I only get a few channels, so it's sometimes nice to see what's available on the richer side of the pond. So this week it's Speed Channel.

And every time i turn on the channel, the only thing that's on is a bunch of guys sitting around talking about NASCAR! Apparently the change over to "Nextel Cup" and Daytona 500 qualifying is worth hours and hours of discussion. It's either that or NASCAR practices or qualifying. I've been watching since monday and I haven't seen an actual race yet. I thought there was supposed to be other car shows on this channel besides all this NASCAR talk.

I'm just wondering is this the norm? or are there cooler things on usually? I thought they show rallying sometimes. I haven't seen squat that I would pay extra for.

they have awesome racing coverage on the weekends. And in the week-day evenings they have lots of car shows, such as Victory by Design, American Muscle Car, etc..

Since Nascar is in full swing at Daytona -- this is probably a bad week to preview that channel if you're looking for variety.

It's the only source for a lot of the better racing series. They pretty much have the market cornered on F1, ChampCar/CART/whatever they're calling themselves, Rally, MotoGP, Superbike, Touring Cars, Lemans. It gets better... but Nascar is the primary focus of Speed Channel. The plan at one point was to restructure the channel as NascarTV, so it could be worse.
