Is the Seagate 7200.8 worth waiting for?

I am in need of more storage and I have been looking to get a 200GB Seagate 7200.7 SATA drive. I am looking to buy in 2 weeks when I get back from vacation, but I could probably wait a month if it is worth it. Quiet and the 5 year warranty are why I am mainly considering Seagate.

I have been reading here and it looks like the new Seagate 7200.8 should be released shortly (sometime Q3). Anyone have a better estimate? Will the new drive be worth the wait? Will the 16MB cache be available on all of the drives? Any announcements on price? I don't really need nor do I want to spend the money on more than 200GB. Thanks.

if you are buying a new drive to replace an OS/boot drive then maybe it will be worth the wait.
If you are buying a 200gb drive just to store data files, archive stuff, then its not necessary to wait. Just get the OEM pata 200gb version now, it can be had for under 120 bucks.

Is there a reason besides cost to get the PATA drive instead of SATA? I have an open SATA controller, but if I get the PATA version the drive will need to run on the same channel as an optical drive.

the get the sata one, I just recommended the pata version because its so cheap right now, its a good performer, and is quiete a bit quieter than the sata version.
