I have a ps3 already mainly for gaming.

I'd like to slim down cost. I mainly just watch the NBA channels, reruns of a lot of things and live sports. I've heard of MANY private channels you can add on to the roku. Ive heard you could get live sport channels on there, but i dont know if they mean buying NBA.TV for like $100 a season or like a free hack. NFL i get most games locally on NBC/FOX/CBS so i'm good with that. NBA i dont know because i mainly watch it now on ESPN and comcast sports net.

Buying a roku almost means you should pay $9 a month for netflix and use that.

$80 for life... assuming they dont belly up sounds great.

is it close to real time live on channels like BET, ESPN or about a 30 min delay. There was a couple of small sites, i tried to watch on and there was about a 30min delay, its not bad but sports is annoying.

The Roku sounds good for you... PlayOn if you don't mind having a PC running as the UPnP server at the same time.

Roku is basically an ala carte cable box. Buy what you want, and only what you want. It doesn't seem to have much in the way of good free content though.
