Is the rockband/guitar hero thing dead now?

I have a closet full of Guitar Hero guitars, drums and mics....also the same closet is home for my Rockband kit as well.

yeah i wish i could offload my drums and guitar but i doubt i could get shit for them. i'll probably end up tossing them in the trash at some point.

at one point in time drums were retailing above MSRP since everyone stopped making them.

Oh god, it's been dead for a few years now. I do need a guitar though since my old Nyko one "broke" (or rather Sony broke it). Loved Rock Band: The Beatles but alas I cannot play it anymore.

They were still releasing DLC for these games up until not too long ago IIRC. Might still be.

Rocksmith is the new thing, they might bring the Guitar Hero in the future but I doubt it, problem is they milked it to much, if they had been just intelligent they would have made it a F2P on consoles with downloadable tracks, if they had gone this route maybe those franchises would still be alive today. But hey they thought they had a COD in their hands and blow it.

Rocksmith was first introduced like 3 years ago. They still keeping it up to date or what?

2 years actually, the 1st one was good but not the real deal, Rocksmith 2 was launched this week and is getting exceptional reviews, its not like Guitar Heroes its more like a teaching game then anything else.

oh no shit they released a sequel? got it.

I remember seeing BB shelves full of Rock Band stuff like they were preparing for a black Friday swarm, then suddenly they vanished off from all the retailers. Guess the gimmicky aspect of pretending to play an instrument has worn off.

Do you know if they did anything about the input lag issue that was present for Rocksmith1?

there's a mac variant of rocksmith 2 O_O I think I'm in love.

well the reviews say nothing about the lag, so I'm not sure, I will be buying the game in November tho will buy the guitar separate has its cheaper.

Just buy a used guitar off the Portuguese equivalent of Craigslist -- if there is one. The last thing you want is some cheap, department-store-brand guitar that you'll end up having to throw away once you realize that it's junk. First Act is an example of one of those brands that's sold at the American retailer Target.

I already have an eye on one, a friend of mine is gonna send me one from Germany for less then 100 euros a Les Paul the basic one, here costs around 140 euros. Its pretty much a cheaper Gibson so I'm happy with it.

I completely blame Activision for over saturating the market. When they bought Red Octane, they were just buying the Guitar Hero name because they saw dollar signs. They had no interest in the actual developer of GH, they just wanted the name. Let that sink in.

They didn't care one iota about the actual game. They wanted to churn out as many as possible to maximize their investment. If they had taken a more practical approach and released a good game instead of a thrown together one and supported it with DLC, they might still be making and selling them now.

Of course, we know that the developers of Guitar Hero went on to make a much better game, constantly improving it with every release and kept it well supported by DLC. I imagine that company is already planning a new release for 2014.

An Epiphone model? Sounds good to me. I have a Epiphone SG, which just isn't made as well (Mexico vs. USA) and with cheaper wood and pick-ups.
