Is the Radeon 9700 "fixed"?

I could use someone's reassurances that the Radeon 9700 Pro will work in a P4S8X motherboard.

If I install the ASUS BIOS updates and whatever patches I can find for the video card, will it function. In other words, will it post? Will it run under Windows XP Pro? Has anyone tried Red Hat Linux 7.3+?

well i had mine nutered the other day.

no realy, bios 1003a fixes the ati issue, the card works great under windows xp but i wounldn't hope for much linux support. as for if it works at all in linux, i cannot say but hopefuly someone here has givein it a try.
 

I'm feeling better already. Whoopee!!! At last I will have a good computer (by Monday I hope). The last one I built is five years old now. It's been through hell too. Survived a lightning strike up the phone cord (of all things). Fried the Diamond Monster2 and modem card and went on to destroy my answering machine. So needless to say any video card will be a welcome change. Thanks all.
