Is the Radeon 9700 card any good? What does it compare to?

I like it. It's faster than my Ti4400. I have an 1800+, so I don't exactly max it out or anything.

BF1942 @ 1600x1200 is smooth. I play 1280x960 with 2xAA. It's very nice.

The Radeon 9700Pro is a pitiful card. It is slow compared to the GeforceFX and its preformance becomes worse and worse as you jack up the resolution. To say "smooth" would be ludicrous - it is about as choppy as a very fast Japanese Cook at those places you eat where they impress you in the preperation of food. And couple that with horrid drivers and you have very little to no promise for ~300 dollars*

* Take the opposite meaning of what I said and you have my final answer :D

OK, I think he was asking about the 9700 NON-PRO, and it beats everything out there from Nvidia except the FX dustbuster, and of course the 9700 pro and the 9800 pro/

read any of the dozens of reviews on the web and you shall see that it gives the competition a run for its money :)

in other words it rocks.

The Radeon 9700 Pro is the best video card I've ever had. Is that good enough for ya? ;)

Not trying to thread crap, start flame wars, or whatever, but for a Diamond Member, you don't know how fast a Radeon9700 is? Thats rather suprising. Considering its probally the most popular card available right now.

Oh, and it is a fast card.

The 9700 Pro (unless the 9800's are shipping) is currently the fastest available video card... You cant buy any of the others that even compare (very readily). I'd say it compares to nothing just yet.. it's the best. in a month or 2 when 9800s and FX5800's hit the shelf come back to this thread. :D

You should be made to use a S3 Virge VX on a P133 and 32MB of RAM for saying that! ;)

Cheers!
