Is the Radeon 7500 good?

I had a Radeon 32 meg LE and it worked great especially OC'ed, but it got damaged! I am on the hunt for a new graphics card! Now I dont do much gaming, but I do want to have good 3d when I do. I want very good 2D, Tv out is a must and I dont want to spend much. The Radeon 7500 is only 86$, but the GF3 TI200 can be had for just forty or so dollars more! Also lower end cards such as the ECS SIS 315 card would work for 37$ and the Kyro 2 is not out of the realm of possibility. Which card should I get? All the factors considered especially the price!!!

The Radeon 7500 is a very decent card. Especially the Made By Ati 7500's. Some of the Powered By Ati's have slow ram and are missing TV/DVI out features. The Radeon 8500 can be had for $135-145 now.

I'm interested too. Looking for something with video out. I currently have the Radeon LE but no TV out.

I'm very happy with my AIW 7500 which is clocked slower than a standard 7500. I get around 80 fps in RTCW at 1024x768x32 with everything on. The 2D image quality is also very good. I think it is a great compromise between speed and cost. I have not tried the TV out so I cannot comment on it.

I dont doubt ATI's TV out ability. They have long been the best for TV out!

I have made up my mind that I will not spend more than 150$ on a card and I would like the cheapest card possible!

The ECS SIS315 card has caught my attention! Since Im hearing it can offer GF2mx performance and TV out at 37$! I really dont want to buy another ECS product since I already am using the K7S5A! Im leaning towards the Radeon 7500 since it seems to be the best card for the $$$ although how does it compare to the Kyro II and the GF3 TI200?

it doesn't have some of the advanced features that 3Dmark shows off (which no games really use anyways) however its a good, fast card for not a lot of money.

In my opine Radeon is the only option. The others cannot compare quality-wise and as the Radeon is available at several price/performance levels is the clear winner and the only question is which model: Radeon LE TVO / 7500 / 8500? ;)

I agree with Auric, I get 300 FPS in Quake2 out of my 2 year-old GF2 Pro,but I wanted to try the ATI card's(my Dad swear's by them). I just built a new pc for my oldest boy and put the ATI Radeon7500 in it and I must say it not as fast as my GF2 but it sure is pretty to look at :D and run's just pretty smooth.

Well, the Radeon 7500 is a great card for the price ($86... wow.. it's 200 up here in Canada =( ) anyways, the GeForce 3 Ti 200 will probably last longer. If your planning to keep this c card for the next year, 2 years, then go w/ the GeForce 3, and spend the extrar $40. If not, then get the 7500. It's a great card (i love my Radeon LE, friends all have 7500 or 8500 and haven't heard any complains about drivers or nething like that). If you got the cash, get the GeForce 3 Ti200, if ur strapped, get the 7500.

I have the Radeon 7500 AIW and I'll have to say it is bad ass for the price. I don't watch TV enough though, so I'm selling mine. $160 shipped for a week old card if anyone wants it :)

I haven't much experience in the TV-out arena, but I have seen a GF2 TV output - it's....bearable for a little while. A friend bought a Radeon VE at a computer show recently for $42. It has quite nice TV-output, suitable for watching DVD's. Quite impressive.

For the price/performance ratio the 7500 is a superb card, especially with its very decent performance levels (it usually sits just under a GF2 Ultra). Also I hear that the drivers work better on it than they do on a Radeon 8500 because it uses the same R100 core that the rest of the Radeon cards use (except for the 8500 of course).

How well does the Radeon 7500 overclock? I mean it already ships at a very high clock frequency! I havent read any articles on ocing the 7500, but I wonder how much performance I can get out of it if I do decide to buy it? Can I get it to GF3 TI 200 levels???

No.

Mine overclocks easily 300/280. The core will go upto 315MHz, but the 4ns ram tops out at about 283MHz.

<< The Radeon 7500 for $86.00. Is that the one on Newegg? >>

That one is a "Powered BY Ati" card, and usually have slower ram and lower clocks. Beware.

That's queer. They used to sell the ATI made card. The current one is definitely diff'rent.

Thats unfortunate. I wish that the link Newegg provides gave more specifics to the ram and clock speeds. Maybe $86.00 was a little too good to expect.

On the clock speeds and RAM some of the retails have 3.6ns RAM, I keep mine clocked 292/292 via tweaked bios Ive had it much higher but with some drivers and some games I got a few artifacts (342/306). There almost great cards but definatly very good.

:)The Radeon 7500 is a very good all around card
Very Cheap <Sub $80 bucks
The best DVD, 2D, DVI, and TV-Out you can get on a gaming card
It has near Geforce 3 Ti 200 speeds in some cases
What more could you expect?
