Sony allows for installation of Linux, and through that you can play all sorts of homebrew games.

i remember reading they found a way to play a BR game off the hdd. But you needed a specific patch for each game, still looking for any news on that.

you can dump game .isos when running linux on your ps3 but you can't run them as of yet.
