is "The Producers" worth watching?

I saw the broadway musical and it was hysterical... is the movie (the new one that came out... not the 60's one) worth watching?

I'll probably rent it on DVD. I saw the broadway show at the Pantages theater in Hollywood. Jason Alexander and Martin short starred in it.

The movie is really good, but different. I would say rent it, it's definitely one of my favorites (but I also saw it before the play)... whatever you do don't go see the abomination thats in theaters right now.

Saw it, it was pretty funny. I know it probably doesn't hold a candle to the broadway play but Will Ferrell was hilarious. 🙂

Saw it, loved it, I'm going back in a day or two. I saw the play a few times, the play is of course better, but this is a movie.

I wasn't expecting much from the reviews. And, it's definately a movie of a broadway musical - if it bothers you that a film student could have directed it better moviewise, then be warned.

There are WAY too many closeups, but I adjusted after a while.

Strangely, it doesn't really capture the chemistry between Lane and Broderick the way the stage did. But discounting for all of that, it's still an amazing movie. There's enough Mel Brooks to keep the thing going. Oh, stay for the end of the credits if you want to see Mr. Brooks.

If you're expecting a great film experience it isn't. If you're expecting as much magic as there was in the theater, it isn't. But it's worth seeing.

Now, the old Producers movie . . . genius.
