Hello guys and gals.
Hopefully someone can help me with my little problem.
I turned on my computer only to be met with the stench of something burning and the the system not posting. In fact not doing any thing at all. I turned it off and then back on. Goes on but keeps freezing. Eventually no post again.
I open er up and slowly going through the hardware, discover that the burnt smell is
coming from my video card. Pulling the card out I find a small burnt spot where the card fits into the AGP slot. The slot itself has a black residue that I can see inside.
My card is a creative Anihilator 32meg agp. The motherboard is the ASUS CUSL2.
I figure at this point that the card is gone. My question is, could the board be the culprit? I ask because I recently changed the motherboard. I have already had to rma it because the 3 pin headers died. I wasn't having any problems before this.
My concern is I dish out more $$$'s for a new vid card and then have the board fry that one as well.
What do you think?
