can someone tell me if this is a good camera?

i dont know anything about photography at all. all i know is 5mp is pretty good and it seems to have a few extra features. the reviews ive read say its pretty good, but i was wondering if anyone here has actually used it?

the reason im looking at this one is because i can get a $250 rebate through hpinfolab.com combined with my new compusa discount, so it could end up pretty cheap. thanks for your help 🙂

UGh HP camera.

i had a HP camera that broke withine a few motnsh of useing. so i bought a cannon A40.

I would NOT buy onother HP camera.

i had an hp a while ago.. it wasnt very high-end at all.. pretty bad picture quality and such. BUT it lasted for a while.. until someone like.. stepped on it or something :-/

thats why you should buy tap from compusa. you pay a few extra dollars and youre completely covered if your camera breaks. just bring it in and you get a new one. just kidding 😉

I would NEVER get a HP camera ever again. They make the best printers, but they need to stick to that. I hate my Photosmart 315 which I've had for a couple years now. It sucked back then and it sucks now.

I was in the same situation as you (hpinfolab rebates), so I got a 735. i don't know if hp has a problem with their CCDs, but every picture I took was blurry, I exchanged it for another still the same thing. I ended up going with a Pentax Optio 33L which was cheaper and with the epson printer/camera bundle ended up being cheaper that going with hp.

HP and Kodak digicams suck.

Unless you are getting this for CHEAP ($100 or less) I would avoid any and all HP digicams.

Instead get one of these, a Canon, Nikon, Olympus or Fuji.

Besides that thing looks like a BEAST. Get something more compact, even the Canon A300 which is a nice compact beginners digicam.

I work in the Imaging department (and computers/cell phones) at CircuitCity and to be honest, most of the HP cameras we sell are crap IMO (granted, we dont sell the 945). However, this camera seems to be cleaning up in the areas i previously didnt like about HP..

Check out the Review & Sample Pix here - http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/hp945.html

The 8x Optical is sweet though, must admit. 🙂

I used to write off Kodak as well, till i started selling/using the Kodak DX6490. Check it out, pretty damn sweet.

Damn you have good taste.

Then I would upgrade to the Canon SD100 or S400.

The DX6490 is indeed a powerful camera, much better than the C-750 which a lot of people compare it too. SD > XD picture card

Well i not only like the picture quality, but it really has the edge in terms of its learning curve. You can honestly pick up the camera and take awesome pictures without having to consult the user manual even once.

To those who dont know, the DX6490 (along with most other Kodak's), actually tell you in ENGLISH which mode they are in, along with menu systems using ENGLISH rather than symbols. My god, its nice. Combined with 10x optical zoom, Schneider lens, comfortable body, 2.2" LCD, Electronic viewfinder, it really is a nice package.

Its the ONLY kodak i reccomend. Take a gander in person rossman, it might convert you as it did me. 🙂
