Is The Original TRIBES Still Available As A Free Download?

I found my old retail boxed version of TRIBES the other day and decided to install it and see if anyone was still playing Shifter_v1 or its descendants. Unfortunately most of the servers I found are running a later version than I have, and the patch I found does not work, and even if it did it apparently doesn't go up to the version that some of the servers are running.

I am hoping if the game is still available as a free download from whatever computer or game magazine had it previously that it the most current version.

Officially and unofficially. Since there was never any copy protection whatsoever (since day 1, no CD key or anything) you can find community install packages designed to include several scripts, maps, skins, rets, even updated textures and gui.

I don't know how good such an example is, they way they packaged it up it really only supports 1024x768 and 1280x1024, at least thus far.
