Hey guys i am wondering if onboard raid is any good vs add-on raid card ? If your mb has a onboard raid can you still use a add-on raid card ? Thanks

Depends; did you have a specific motherboard in mind?
I used the onboard Highpoint HPT372 RAID controller on a Shuttle AK35GTR motherboard; it seemed to work just fine. I didn't run a lot of benchmarks, if any. I do know that it was considerably faster than a single drive; I used the system for working with MPEG2 files ranging from 2GB to 12GB.

I have two computers and each one has a RAID one is a Highpoint Add in card RAID and the other is a Promise onbord RAID and as far as i can tell they are just about the same.
