Is "The Office" any good?

I have to do a school assignment on the show, which is essentially the midterm itself.

I know Anandtech is notorious for strict critiques among its members so I want to see what you guys think about the show overall.

Used to be barely okay. Then it got to be all about Steve Carrell and started to majorly suck. I stopped watching during his last season of painful schtick and never picked it up again.

It's quite addicting. You grow to love Michael.

It turned into crap soon after Jim and Pam got married. I can't believe it's still on without Michael.

Andy has turned into a Toby hater and this week's episode made me LOL a few times.

Seasons 1-4 were its hey-day. Seasons 5-7 were meh with the occasional lol or good episode, seasons 8-9 have consistently made me laugh, if nothing to write home about.

So I'd say watching it can't do any harm really.

I was going to give a sarcastic reply saying how it's terrible and that's why millions of people watch it, but then I remembered Dancing With The Stars, American Idol, etc.

It's great.. people have hated on it since Season 1 (and then in retrospect say the early seasons are the only good ones). There have been some duds but as a whole, one of my favorite series.

That was when I stopped watching. Not just because they got married, but because the series seemed to be on such a downward spiral.

I may catch up with the series eventually and see what I missed after that, but it won't be any time soon.

i never got it, just a bunch unfunny people turning to look into the camera making the "oh bother" face over and over. "documentary" camera style is just an excuse not to be funny it seems. its like they turned a charlie brown peanuts comic into a live action tv show...there is no lol funny there to be found.

You're not doing it right.

You should watch the UK version as well and contrast the difference with respect to differing cultural aspects and the different ways TV businesses work across the Atlantic.

Should get you some extra brownie points. 🙂

The early seasons were great. Last season was atrocious. Amazingly, this season has been an impressive upswing.

I hate Jim and Pam.
