Is the nForce2 IGP 3Dmark2003 compatible? It only "qualifies" for one test, but it won't run even that with all the latests drivers and updates.

I see on nVidia's site that they want you to install XP SP1 before installing the chipset drivers for USB2.0 to work. I used an SP1 slipstream installation to install SP1 during XP's initial installation so I hope that doesn't cause any trouble...

Its based on the GF4 MX series, which is not a 'true' GF4 in the first place but rather based on the old GF2. The only improvements it has are faster core/memory speeds and an improved memory controller. It does not even have a pixel shader.

LOL, I love the answers which come out of AT...

The questions is ...

Is the nForce2 IGP 3Dmark2003 compatible?

The answer is yes, it's as "comptible" as any DirectX 7 graphics core. Although, since the nForce2 graphics core has only DX7 functionality it will only be able to get past the first test.

I'm not sure exactly why your not able to run 3Dmark03, (or why you would even want to), but you might want to double check that you have the latest drivers and DirectX 9 installed.

Yes, all updates were applied. Afterwards I tried nVidia's nForce drivers and ran into version conflicts with MSI's latest ones (Installed via MSI's live update feature). I figured MSI's couldn't possibly be newer than nVidia's, so I installed over all the files it asked about (Perhaps a newer file date, but based on the same or older files). Then I was getting blue screen's after rebooting until I told XP to revert to the "Last Known Good Configuration." Typical behavior when mixing versions ;) However, before fixing it all up, I ran 3Dmark2003 and it worked. I guess I just need to wait for nVidia to make a newer update to fix MSI's drivers without botching everything :)

Careful... I made the same kind of comment in my AMD temp thread and I was flamed to the point of near-vendetta. :(

To answer this question, I would have assumed it would perform exactly as the onboard MX-420/440 video *should*.
Why it would not seems totally bizarre! Maybe something to do with the architecture, but then why would it work with other onboard video and not nF2?

I'll have to read on the futuremark site for more. I'm curious. ;)

It does work, now that I've botched the MSI drivers by writing over them with nVidia's "older" drivers and doing a roll-back ("Boot with Last Known Good Configuration") after the BSOD ;) (Probably mixing older nVidia files with MSI's installation references)
