Is the new Canterwood Same as Northwood?

OverVolt

Lifer
The Canterwood everyone is talking about, with 800 fsb. Is it just a Northwood on 200Mhz fsb or is it a totally different cpu core. Or is it just with added cache that Northwoods thirst for. Just clearing some things up

I think the canterwood is a motherbaord chipset...The prescott is the code name I belive for the 800mhz fsb cpus after the northwood...

Also I though rumor had it they should also be powered with HT2 and 1mb of cache instead of 512kb...

Duvie's right
Canterwood is a mobo chipset while Northwood is a CPU core
canterwood should have dual-channel DDR 400, ICH5(with Serial ATA intergrated into it) and a improved memory controller

nah, i don't think so
Serial ATA is a standard designed to replace the ageing PATA standard
it is also backwards compatitable to PATA
