is the network+ certification worth it?

It some easy technician test, last time I took it (in summer of 2000), there was a test for DOS/Windows. I'd get that if you wanna do some freelance repair/setup work(good for refference), its only $128 for each test.

A+ helped me get my second IT job

i have been meaning to take the network+ test for a couple years now, maybe this summer i will do it

A+ & N+ are good for starters if you can't do MCSE or a MCP.
At least it proves you are skilled in IT.

If you do want a MS cert, CompTIA's A+ or N+ certifications can be used as an alternative to passing an elective exam toward the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Windows 2000 certification

Screw A+..... go for Network Essentials (MCSE).

?
The Networking Essentials exam has been discontinued 2 years ago....:Q
(Which means that it wasnt a good advice)

Edit: Dont bother with Network+, go with Cisco's CCNA instead.

they all suck in todays market 🙂

that said.. a+ is simple, network+ is even easier (atleast the old test i took).. mcse was rather difficult and annoying..

I guess maybe, but I think more than one Comptia certification is overkill. If you've got alot of experience, then get a more meaningful cert, you'll get more bang for your buck. If you must get something like A+ just to say you have it and start on the road but it won't carry you far I don't think.

Mine's been worthless but cheap at least.

Ok then, do this one: Exam 70-216: Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure

dont bother..get ccna. buy the exam book from sybex ($~20). thats all u need to pass. but u also need a cisco simulator if u dont have an routers to play with.
