Is the MSI Pro2-A THE board to get right now?

Is this the hot board right now, the #1 board for Socket A? Why is it better than the Asus A7V or Abit KT7? Also what sites sell this board. My dad wants me to build a computer for him, and I'm going Socket A so this is important to me. Thanks.

Seems like the MSi is the board of choice for now. The number reason seems to be stability. Haven't heard much in terms of problems from the MSi boards, a few problems from the ASUS boards, and a LOT of problems from the ABIT board. However, you do have to factor in that the MSi seems to be more scarce than the other boards, so there are fewer owners of the MSi board. I'm looking to get one of them myself, Openlinx and ATAcom both have it. But they do charge over the suggest price which I think is around $115 or so? Not sure... but since it's so scarce and stable for around $135 to $150 it's still a good buy. If anyone knows where we can get it for cheaper hook us up.

One more question, what is the difference between the Pro2 and Pro2-A, if there is one.

I thought that the 2A used the 686B South with ATA100 support, but it could be wrong. Quick check with MSI website confirms that the 2A has the 686B.

I read at an Overclockers site that was linked to in another thread that this board isn't as proficient in the overclocking department as the Asus A7V or Abit KT7, but I think this is only for extreme overclocking I believe. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

2A has support for ATA 100, 2 has support for ATA66

There are quite a few owners here of the MSI K7T PRO board including Anandtech(The PR02 version is still very new)anyway mine as not given me any problems,software,drivers, or Bios wise,infact to be honest it`s so rock solid it`s boring,anyway you do get MSI quality parts,great Bios support,stability,very low RMA & good pricing so what more could you ask for.

Well just ordered mine from Spartantech( thanks for the info dcdomain) for $131 Shipped! I called ahead of time and they did say that it's in stock. Never ordered from them but the price is right!!

I just got mine from pcprogress today. $131 shipped also. For some reason they have it listed under asus but it is the msi k7t proa. My tbird didn't come in yet though so I can't try it out. It doesn't look like mine has the voice thingy on it though. There is no Chinese/English jumper on it like every other board I have seen. Oh well I doubt I would ever need it anyways.
