Is the Moto-X locked to US Carriers only?

Or is Motorola full of it? My wife wants a Moto-X, but it has to be unlocked to be used overseas with local GSM cell providers. I chatted with Motorola and they told me that there is no "GSM Global Version" of the Moto-X, that it is locked to US carriers only.

That makes no sense to me. If it is unlocked so that I can use it with any US GSM provider, why couldn't I use it overseas?

The unlocked one is unlocked but it won't have the appropriate LTE bands for Europe.

Thanks a lot, Trombe. Motorola's website has basically zero information on this...an intentional "oversight" I'm sure. Their CSR told me that the Moto-G can be purchased directly from them, "Global GSM Unlocked" but their website absolutely sucks. Can't click on anything to order or see details. With Motorola being owned by Google, you would think their website would be in perfect working order, but nooooo.

If you go to buy the Moto X it has that as the option during checkout, "GSM Unlocked, includes T-Mobile SIM, AT&T and T-Mobile 4G LTE with Global HSPA"

edit: it's after you go through designing the phone and start the checkout process (but before entering any info).

Hmm, you would think Motorola's own CSRs would know that. But based on his/her command of the English language during our chat, it doesn't surprise me.

Thanks for the tip, notposting. I'll check it out.
