Is the "Microsoft Word" that comes with "Works" identical to the one that comes with "Office"

It's Works 2003. Just wanted to make sure before editing a 600-page document full of equations on a laptop with only MS Works installed. The MS web site is terrible, with so many broken links, and I couldn't find this information.

Thx.

Somehow I think it's not. Does it save as a .doc or as something else? That may not be a good test, but here's a bump

Don't have it with me now, but I think it's doc. I'm sure the spreasheet has another format as default (and it's not really Excel).

I am pretty sure that Works comes with its own word processor. What would be the point of haveing a Works suite if it just used Word? Also, Word can open Works documents just fine.

Works (since '98 or so) comes with the full version of word. If all you need is word, then works is the best way to go. If you need outlook, or excel, or something else, then you need office.

It is, in fact, the full version of Word. The Works word processor is so useless that MS does include Word in the box now. 🙂

Word has come with Works for at least the last two or three years. See the Link
for confirmation. The 2004 version comes with Word.

I have Works and it comes with Word from Office XP. As far as I know, it's identical to the Office XP version of Word. It saves in .doc format.

I had works 2000 before I upgraded to office and it did not come with word. Make sure the works you are using doesn't save as .wps format
