is the media over-doing it a bit?

please, please, please do not think I am downplaying this incident at all. It was a heinous act against humanity. But isn't the media over-playing the "coming war"? Ever time I turn around I here people saying stuff like "it's WW3! Another Vietnam! Draft is coming! Nuclear winter! World is ending!" Yes, maybe this operation will take many years, as there are alot of terrorists; yes, it wil invovle alot of the world, because many countries will help us and many countries have terrorists in them; yes, reservists are being called up, but that's pretty normal under alot of crises. But this isn't a massive ground war, it's going to be fought with cruise/tomahawk missiles, special forces type guys, and air planes. I'm sure there will be casualties, but nothing of the sort of 10 million of all guys between 18 and 40 dead or something like WW2. I guess bottom line here is, do you think the media/population is being a little melodramatic at the coming operation? I think so. Other thoughts?

Also I'd like to apologize for lack of organization, grammar, and spelling, as I'm quite tired.

I don't know what media you're watching... or how you're interpreting what you're watching, but i've never heard of a single station that claimed anything like that over the 12+ hrs of news i watch a day.

Well...media I define rather loosely. I'd have to say that the big ones that play all day, like the Fox News and CNN, have been pretty good. But the local news, newspaper articles, internet articles etc

See! Americans are already trying to get this out of their minds. In a month, Americans won't care and there will be little support for a war against terrorism. Mark my words. I think the amount of media coverage we're seeing is justified.

Edit: We have to make sure that we don't become de-sensitized, however. This must always remain a hororific act, or else it will take much more next time to stir our emotions.

Interesting point. Certainly makes sense. Perhaps it's all a psychological move?

I sure as hell hope people still care a month from now. Imagine if after a month we simply didn't care what happened in Pearl Harbor. The media coverage is definitely justified.
