is the lite-on 16x10x40 CD-RW any GOOD?

No support in CDRWin 4.x as far as I've read up on the drive, and you have to remember the enable DMA transfer mode on the IDE controller you attach the burner to in order to get reliable burns. However, Nero 5.x and CloneCD support the drive just fine (Nero 5.x is bundled with the drive).

Fantastic drive for the money is my guess. I have the little brother to the drive in question - the 12x/10x/32x. Super quiet, 7 minute burns at 12x write. 🙂

One of the best matchings of alias, icon and online personality. But I digress.

I suggested before that you keep your Plextor until the 24x burners start rolling out. If your Plextor is simply just "slow" but devoid of problems, keep it.

The Lite-On 16x10x40 has 2MB of buffer. Burn at 16x and the buffer gets cleared out in no time, hence the inclusion of Burn-Proof.
