Is the Lexus RX300 best mid size SUV to get for its price range?

The RX300 seems to be the best type of midsize SUV to get for its price range: around $35,000. Any other recommendations or SUVs that give you better performance or quality in this range?

I'd say the MDX from acura is pretty good compared to it ... and the infinity FX ... though i like the MDX more.

What really do you you need/want? How many passenger capacity do you need? How much need do you have for 4WD/AWD drive? How soon are you planning on buying?

The new RX330 is due to come out soon.

At least it would be if you could buy one for a reasonable price - dealers are still selling them for over MSRP.

Still...it offers more room than the RX300, more power than the RX300, and it still ends up being cheaper than the RX300 depending on the options you go with. I've road in a couple RX300's and I'm not overly impressed at all with the interiors, so that's not a huge issue.

You know that a lot of people over the age of 21 don't give two flying fsck's about a car's image right?

Well, he should know what it is. If he doesn't care, nobody is stopping him from buying one and parking next to his VW Cabrio 😀

For $30,000 --> Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander or Toyota 4-Runner
For $35,000 --> Nissan Murano, Nissan FX35
For $40,000 --> Lexus RX330, Acura MDX

Actually Toyota RX330 is around 35K. Nissan Murano is around 30K
Infiniti FX35 is around 35K starting MSRP

The Lexus RX330 is 35k for a base FWD model. $40,000 for a well equipped model
The Nissan Murano bases at around $28,000. Well optioned model with NAV and leather/sport package is $35,000.
Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander Limited are pretty well optioned (at least for the Highlander Limited) at $30,000 - $32,500
FX35 is nicely equipped already at its base price.

I personally think the Honda Pilot is a better bargain.

Only idiots would buy at MSRP, let alone over it.

I don't like the looks too much of an RX300, but my family owns one. It is a great buy. Don't forget once you move into this class, you are also buying the great customer service. I know in my area, the Acura dealerships plain suck compared to the Lexus dealerships.

Call me an idiot but the only you could buy an MDX anywhere was at MSRP plus you had to wait 4 months to get it.

Why should I pay more for a car b/c dumbass Honda doesn't have enough plants and can't meet demand?? If someone told me that I had to wait 4 months and THEN pay over MSRP, I'd tell them to go f*&k themselves...but that's just me 😉

I would NOT pay over MSRP for a family hauler.

How about one of those new Volvo XC90s?

Those are quite nice... 35k base? Prolly a bit out of reach for RX300 buyers fully optioned. Supposedly, they're backordered out the wazoo.

Get a Pilot. 90% of an MDX at $10K less.

<-----MDX Owner.

yeah I agree they're nice. the MDX looks better but still a bit strange. good vehicles though by the looks of things. I don't mind 'em. they're a good size. not too big, just right.

I wouldn't pay OVER MSRP either and didn't. The one positive thing about the MDX's limited availability is that it has the highest resale value amongst SUVs and in the 10 of all automobiles. 48% after 5 yrs according to the latest Blue Book that came out a few days ago. The Ford Explorer is 27%. You get what you pay for I guess.
