i have a friend who is renting a room. and he wants to know if the landlord is allowed to track him of his internet usage and tracking his history of what sites he has been too?

cause now he isnt able to access adult websites. is the landlord allowed to ban him from going to those sites?

The owner of the network can do anything. Your friend needs a vpn.

Who pays for the internet? If internet is included in the rent then it should be unfiltered. If he is just using it then they can do what they want. Is there a lease?

if the landlord is the one providing the internet, I would assume that they're legally allowed to do whatever they want with their own internet (and if your friend wants to control the firewall, he should get a connection of his own)

Your landlord would be foolish not to attempt to block the porn or anything else that could be illegal.

Your "friend" needs to either sign up for their own internet account in his/her name or sign up for a vpn service to hid what is going on. Can someone chime in on if a vpn service would allow access to blocked sites though?

think so

vpn is like a browser for data i think

so the content is being processed at the vpn and then sent as material coming from the vpn site

So what kind of sites does "your friend" visit and how bad are they if the person has to ban them?
