Is the key supposed to get hot after a short drive?

I drove back from work today and when I got out I noticed that the key was hot (the part that gets inserted). My commute is about 5 miles each way and takes me about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.

There is a light near the tumbler that may be warming up the key.
Also, if the car was hot from being in the sun, it will warm up your key.

Yep. especially When my car is out in the sun. I don't even have to turn on the car. This especially sucks when I used my spare key (has no rubber coating!) Burns the fingers real good.
