I mean, since they are now producing amd 64bits, are they going to get more Barton out after the 3200+ like intel did with the P3 after the P4 got out if I remember correctly? Or is it the end?

I think their is room for a 2.3 or 2.4 ghz barton if AMD realy wanted - but I doubt they are that bothered. Its a shame as a 0.09 athlon xp with say 1mb of cache would be excellent in my dual setup

And in my NF7-S. Too bad those chips will never be produced. :(

not until they produce cheap ones. needs die shrink and heavy production increase. not for a while.

One problem is the naming convention, since a "3200+" Barton is so much slower than a A64 3200+, it will be even more absurd to have "3400+" and "3600+" Bartons that are both still slower than the A64 3200+.

I have 2 x 2 x 2800+ in the middle of being built, albeit using 2500+'s with l5 mod. Depending on how much heat the pair put out I would guess 3200+ is easily possible as I have one currently running single at 2.45ghz :) I intend to keep them at 2.2 ish. :D

They are not dead by any means and they will be AMD's "budget" line for a while into 2004 according to their roadmap. Models and speeds might not improve (unless AMD makes an Athlon XP EE also ;)) but otherwise there's still space to upgrade for people like me with XP 1700s. :)
