Is the hostility and expressed desire to hurt and kill people expressed by some people on this forum real?

Is the hostility and expressed desire to hurt and kill people written by some people on this forum real? I see it in almost every thread.

What has me thinking about is a nut who frequents in my neighborhood bar. He constantly talks about shooting, stabbing, decapitating, choking to death, etc people he does not like. It does not take much for someone to be on his to be killed list. Everybody in the bar who knows him cringes when he is around. Some times I get concerned for his wife and kids when he goes home after having a couple of drinks.

Are some of this forum's members walking time bombs waiting to go off and kill a lot of innocent people? Will the next VH1 story about Ms Paris or another person complains about not being able to overclock their video card push someone to climb a water tower with all their guns and pick off cars on the interstate?

Yes. But I intend to get rid of all links to my ATOT posts before I take the weaponry out and destroy my enemies and any innocent bystanders who get between me and the villains who deserve to die.

/just came from IEP meeting, and I'm not completely kidding about the weaponry.

Ah you missed an internet phase. They are hard to miss... for those on the internet... so I'm somewhat suprised.

Although, the internet phase does not explain the gun toting crazies. Thats just them being who they are.

yes now... DIAF

I don't know what D I A F means, but if it's something bad, then I hope it happens to you Mr. Bleeding Heart Liberal.

Come on man... 99.999% of this is nonsense. The internet provides anonymity. When you can say whatever you want without fear of reprisals, you'll go over the top. It happens.

In 99% of the cases I would bet no. It's so easy for people to sit behind a keyboard and be something/someone they've always wanted to be but aren't/can't be in real life

Your question can be rephrased...

Are there a lot of little geeks with big online personalities, attitude problems and general social dysfunction on the internet?

Yes. And I think a good percentage like to hang out here. Heck just the other day I logged on to ATOT and on the first page of posts, one was titled "Small animal skinned alive - video" or some sick sh!t. The fact that some punk finds that sh!t amusing is just as disturbing as it is gross. "What's this world coming to?" etc etc.

All you can do is mind your own and be cool, maybe some of the kiddies will follow in your footsteps. Sucks but there's not much we can do... little Jimmy gets his ass kicked at junior high or high school and takes it all out online, via his 6'8" internet persona.

An internet phase / trend / whatever. "Die in a fire". "Stab yourself". "Kill yourself". Are all just popular internet sayings. Not that they originated on the internet, but they fell victim to internet popularity, aka used repetitively by so many people that they are no longer funny / original. Umm... w00t!

Woah, I didn't know we went to the same bar.

*Dusts off his sling blade* This was supposed to be private conversation, uhhh huh...

Ever watch the Red vs. Blue episode where it compares real life to "internet life"? Politics: "Yes I can see your point of view and respect your opinion." On the internet Politics: "I HATE YOU ALL AND HOPE YOU ALL DIE!!!" That sums it up for me.

What do you expect in a bar?

That a psycho would say, actually shout, a desire to murder and commit mayhem on people he does not know? Or some nut who says the same things that I read on this forum?
