Is the HD2900 an effective TV Tuner?

I am looking for a solution for my new PC.

I can either buy the HD3850 (which doesn't have Video In if I understand correctly) and a separate TV tuner, or the HD2900Pro which offers about the same game performance (and better in some cases) but with VIVO (Video In/Out).

The second choice (with the 2900) costs less money, but is it really useful as a solution for watching TV on my PC screen?

What about PVR capabilities?

P.S: The middle connector on the 2900 (between the DVI outs) works both as Video In and Out?

Thanks, Mike.

If it's VIVO then there is no tuner so you will need an external tuner.

Only the old All In Wonder cards had tuners

Try the free GB-PVR for decent PVR software once you decide on a solution

I got a Cable converted/decoder (the thing that the tv connects to), if I connect it to the HD2900Pro I'll get a good result for watching TV on my pc?

Yup,

I used to have my DirecTV box connected directly to my old 9600XT VIVO and sound card. I could then watch TV on the PC using GB-PVR or other TV/PVR software.

I picked up an ATI Theater 550 PRO capture card when I got an X1950PRO without VIVO. It could take video and sound using RCA & S-Video connectors or analog OTH/Cable signals using the inbuilt tuner.

The important thing is that you won't get HDTV through video-in. Either fit an HDTV tuner into the PC, or live with old fashioned standard resolution TV.
