From what I've read and what I understand, nVidia has a new production method for their Ti GPUs. It is cheaper to produce the GPUs and the production has greater and higher quality yields. This means that nVidia can bottom out the cost of the GPUs and still make a profit. Vendors need to purchase the GPUs in order to produce their video boards, and the cost of an original GF3 is most likely greater than the cost of the Ti 200 or the Ti 500, so why buy the original GF3? nVidia is apparently attempting to phase out the original GeForce3 rather quickly. Why buy an original GeForce3 when you can have a Ti 200 for $100 less and only performs 5-15% under the GF3? Or why buy an original GeForce3 when the Ti 500 is soon to match it in price? The Ti 500 should make to be a superior video card...
