Uh...no. Now go away and never return, dumbass.

He just posted the story. At least wait for him to take a side before you open fire.

Heck, not only is it racist, it also promotes the bourgeouis, male-dominated system at the expense of the lower classes. For example, the underclass pawns, who are supposed to sacrifice themselves for their "king". It also ignores the principle of seperation of church and state (witness the bishop playing piece), and glorifies the military-industial complex (the knight), sexism (the king being more highly esteemed than the queen). It also discriminates against the gay-lesbian-transgendered community because of the heterosexual stereotype fostered by a king and queen. It also ignores the special needs community, you'll notice the rooks aren't handicapped accessible ;)
Now that was good.

But your name still sucks. :p

it IS a pretty ANCIENT game. originally, the "queen" was an "advisor" and the weakest of the pieces (just above a Pawn). In the Middle Ages, women were elevated (in principle) and the modern Queen got the power of the Bishop and Castle (Rook). Also the modern terms are out of the middle ages . . . not the ancient Indian game.

In fact the EARLIEST boards were a GRID but NOT alternating light and dark squares . . . there are HUNDREDS of chess VARIANTS - some with bigger boards (10x10 and 12x12 and more pieces with varied moves - imagine the Queen ALSO able to move as a Knight) .

What's funnier is the fact that black people don't really have BLACK skin... it's just a name. So chess is really more like... angels vs burglars.

Actually chess would be originally classified as a "war game" . . .

Man, you guys all suck. Don't you remember the Bugs Bunny episode where Marvin the Martian was going to blow up Earth because it obstructed his view of Venus? And what was he going to use? That's right - the Q36 Explosive Space Modulator!

And by the way, that was an awesome response. :D

That's a pretty old cartoon. You have a good memory or have seen it recently. ;)

BTW, Edgar Rice Burroughs in his Martian Series, created Martian Chess . . .

I was going on colour... As you can tell, this thread has absolutely nothing to do with chess being a game, or it's history, or anything like that. Put all that aside and look at the colour aspect.

It's funny cause the people who say colour shouldn't matter are the people to whom colour matters most.

I vote on good memory, since I have not seen it in at least 10 years, but I remember it. It was one of those things you remember for a while. I think there were Instant Martian's that came out of a gumball like machine that grew up when you added water to them. I think they ended up in a sewer or something.

I also think it was an immodium q36 explosive space modulator IIRC.

Immodium is a diahhrea medicine. ;)

If there's a correct word for it, it would be "Illudium" or "Eludium" :)

Edit - Yes, I'm watching it right now. :D

Actually, people who say colour doesn't matter just might be colour-blind. ;)

However, chess - emulating war - puts their opposing sides in Uniforms of a CONTRASTING color - it'd be pretty confusing to have them the same color) . . . BTW, there are American Civil War chess sets that are Blue and Gray; others are silver and gold . . .

I don't think I have seen that cartoon since then but DO have a vague memory of it - it was pretty classic. :)

Roadways are pretty racist, you drive on the black part but are not allowed to cross the white line. If you wanted to you could make anything racist.

People that bring up stupid sh!t like this are directly responsible for racism, people are people, now go away.

LOL, exactly right. I think more people would have recognized my sig if i could have figured out how to write it the way that Marvin said it... "the Illudium Q36 explosive space mod-u-late-toooooooooooor!" Of course, that would have made my sig even longer than it is now ;)
