Is the Galactic Empire capitalist?

I mean, it's obvious capitalism still exists, but does the Empire really PAY for all those Star Destroyers and TWO METAL MOONS that were destroyed?

How can they afford it all?

They are the government. They take the money. In addition, they don't look like crap for nothing--they offer them to the lowest bidder, which is usually a company (I forget the name) that is partly operated by the empire.

no, its a dictator ship ran by the emperor. the emperor uses fear (and vader) to control his moffs.

Are you saying that capitalism can't exist under a dictatorship? You need to read up on your economics, and stop confusing economic systems with political systems.

i dont think the kuat drive yards would agree, 😉. there is captilism (buisnesses, factories, companies)... but everything that concerns the empire resolves around the emperor and his power and fear it causes in the population.

the original poster was reffering to the star destroyers which is contracted out of the kuat yars which the empire pays for in ways I dont how. i know the kuat yards only delt with the empire due to fear of the empreror and the money he pays. you also have to take into consideration that the emperor when taking over the old republic took over every aspect (there is proabably some sort of taxation as well as dealings with companies).

Where'd they get that much METAL?

Not from Metallica, that's for sure - although James, Lars, Kirk and Jason provided them with all the explosives (ie. Pop) needed to mine the metal 😉

This bad joke brought to you by The Society for a Drunken Gurck
