Is the FOP-38 overkill for a Duron at 1.008GHz?

I'm running my Duron 600MHz at 1.008GHz right now and I'm wondering if using a 5500RPM fan on the FOP38 heatsink would be a good idea until I decide to go higher again. My motherboard monitoring program shows 33 C. idle and around 38 C. after playing UT for about forty five minutes with this 5500RPM fan on there. Will that be okay?

considering that your temp measurement is definately off, you are not gonna measure a huge difference with a weaker fan.

As far as core temp, you'll see a bit of an increase, but you should still be in reasonable operating temps.

My duron 600 @ 1000 is really stable with a Ys-Tech 27.2cfm fan (4500rmp).

Yeah runs really stable to!

It doesn't outperform my INTEL Pentuim 233 though, but's that only because it's an AMD.
