Is the first couple days of college rigorous?

I think your first semester is almost completely general ed, so it usually doesn't matter what your major is. You will probably have some light assignments, just to get you started during the first week, but no bog deal. The trick in a lot of classes is not to fall behind in the first place. The teachers aren't going to walk you through all your assignments like they do in high school. Also, you have time you never had before. Between 9AM and 4PM is 7 hours. IF 1 hour of that is lunch and 3 to 4 of that is class time, then 2 to 3 hours are open. My suggestion is use it. You'd be surprised how much homework you can get done (and how much easier it is) if you do it right after class. If you're living in the dorms, you'll find that by dinner time, everyone wants to start hanging out and partying. I generally found that any homework I didn't finish before dinner, I didn't get back to work on before midnight.
