i was watching the E! show on the making of the exorcist.

was it really that scary?

most people i talk to state they saw it as a kid..i figure yeah as a kid it must be scary ..but as an adult is it still scary...even in todays internet desensitized, CGI laden movie, nothing can shock me times.

I have never watched it..now im curious...

does it hold up even though it was made that long ago, i mean it was released in 1974 i believe

ahh, i rember me and my then girlfriend (now ex) watched it, we rented the old version on dvd and watched it on my sony wega about 4 feet to my left. its a lil spooky, which is good to have the girl your with spooked by a movie😉

Eh I didn't find it all that scary. I imagine it'd be pretty bad if I were a lot younger but I saw it a few months ago with my GF and she fell asleep during it lol

i'd say anything that leaves me thinking about it the next day is worthy of being called scary.
and the Exorcist did that.

It's more stylized and story-ish than scary. There's a lot of good acting, directing, set decoration there, so it's a pleasant show. It's sort of gently scary. They try.

Not like, say, the opening few minutes of Terminator scary. I still have nightmares from that.

its kinda creepy but thats it

I did however see it when it was re released in the thearter and on the big screen its kinda scary

There are some parts that are pretty eerie, like when the possessed girl starts crawling down the stairs like a spider. That scared the f*ck out of me when I was a kid, heh.

I saw it a couple years ago also for the first time with a bunch of friends, wasn't scary at all, but that's what happens when it's the middle of the day and light is coming through the blinds and everyone is making wise cracks about the movie.
