i think my teachers hard drive is fried but i want to make sure before i tell him to get another one

when i boot i get the bios screen and then "Strike f1 to retry boot, stirke f2 to enter setup utility"

i tried to go through the steps to install xp and i couldn't find the hard drive

fdisk couldnt find it

bart pe couldnt find it

partition magic couldnt find it

i switch out the ide cable and it still did the same thing

all i know to do is put it in another computer as slave

could it be a virus

post doesnt seem to run, i dont get a memory test or anything

Unlikely to be a virus. Even a boot sector virus wouldn't hide the drive.

Pop it in another computer. If BIOS can't detect it it's a dead drive.
